Full tang N690 steel for superior strength and edge retention. They are also NATO approved and their factory is ISO 9001:2008 certified.

The Selvans weighs in at 425 grams with a blade length of just 155mm with an overall length of 310mm. A longer slightly curved handle and a heavier blade allow for a powerful chopping and cutting action.

The Selvans was jointly launched by Extrema Ratio and Master instructor Daniele Dal Canto of F.I.S.S.S. (Italian Survival Federation).

The project was based on slightly modifying the 'Ontos' to accentuate the overall performance of this already very capable knife. The handle and the blade was lengthened to increase the effectiveness of chopping and hacking duties.

Completely solid build make this knife useful in most situations needing a solid dependable blade and it's firm grip and blade design allow for precision work.

The Selvans is a powerful tool capable and very strong. Coupled with it's survival kit incorporated in it's sheath this a great choice for your main survival knife choice, if you can afford it.

Blade steel is the fantastic N690Cobalt hardened to HRC58 for a super sharp and long lasting edge. This steel is produced in Austria and is used for scalpel production in the medical industry.

The steel is martensitic enriched with chrome, vanadium, molibdene and cobalt, using the finest homogeneity it is transformed into plate for a crossed lamination/rolling.

Extrema Ratio have nearly ten years experience using this steel and produce a truly fine survival knife steel from it.

The steel is cut by high power laser, vacuum thermo treated and is finally given a special sand blasting.

Protected through burnishing and carbonitruration creating a strong resitance to corrosion which will satisfy even the most demanding military expectations.

The curved handle is made from Forprene and provides a tough and durable and extremely sure gripped handle material.

There is little chance of loosing your grip on this handle and the material is very comfortable even after extended use and comes in black or desert tan.

It is suitable for hands of all dimensions, male or female, and for use with thermal gloves. It is made from a single piece and is easy to dismantle, allowing for easy maintenance.

The handle is asymmetric but straight, which allows for a fast and natural shift from "saber" to "reverse" grip while leaving the end of the tang free as a rope guide or for use as a blunt instrument.

Good reliable stitching and robust materials plus secure snap shut poppers to secure the blade in place, the sheath also comes with leg straps.The Selvans comes with a high tech and very tough nylon sheath with an included survival kit.

The survival kit that is connected to the sheath includes the following items:

• Whistle
• Pocket chain saw
• Water purifying tabs
• Compass
• Copper wire
• Fireball flint and striker
• led micro torch
• 2.5mt lanyard and sharpener.

Functional and secure and full of useful survival kit this sheath tops them all and compliments the Selvans perfectly.

This knife feels indestructible in the hand with a 6.3mm thick blade no cutting job is too much for this work horse. The blade keeps a razor sharp edge even under heavy use and is easy to control with a powerful tanto style tip for even more stability.

Perfect as a chopping instrument it can be used for most chopping jobs. The longer handle length on this knife means that it is easier to make a comfortable chopping action with more than enough handle to get a sure grip (even with big hands) for most other applications. You feel confident to use the knife for all the "all purpose" jobs a good survival knife should be able to deal with, cutting wood and rope, prying and hacking. It oozes strength and reliability not to mention quality, with a fantastic finish.
